The Structure of Therapy:
Consistency is an essential factor in effective psychotherapy, this is facilitated by the weekly therapeutic hour - a 50 minute session, set aside each week just for you. These weekly sessions continue for as long as needed, to help you resolve and fully work through the core issues presented at the beginning of therapy, and at any point a re-examination of these goals is welcomed. Once you feel you have made significant progress, a dialog about moving to biweekly therapy schedule may prove beneficial to your healing process. At any point in our collaboration you are free to bring up any uncomfortable feelings that emerge throughout this process, whether that is a simple conflict with our meeting time, or more complex issues that impacts the quality of our therapeutic alliance - it is all grist for the mill. During this process I will be as transparent as possible about my cancelation policies, fee schedules, and all other areas of my practice than might affect you.
Privacy & Limits to Confidentiality
Beyond the law and standard practice of the counseling profession, I hold your privacy and confidentiality as not only your legal right but as a sacred act. The therapeutic relationship between you, the client and myself, the healing professional, is my priority and any information you share will not be disclosed without your consent in writing; only these three provisos being the exception to this rule:
Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.
Cancelation Policy
If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, and you have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance, a standard cancelation fee of $75 will apply. Repeat last minute cancelations or no-shows may result in the discontinuation of services.
